If I said smoked pork belly, bottomless brunch, imported Hawaiian beer and perfectly poached eggs, your ears would perk up, wouldn’t they? Well read on for my review of Hotbox…

If you’re looking for a fabulous new brunch place, equidistant from the City and Shoreditch then strap your Nikes on and get yourself down Commercial Street to HotBox. They offer a bottomless liquid brunch for £25 a head (prosecco, mimosa or Bloody Mary) and a bloody lovely menu. I went for the Eggs Benedict which was served with two fat rashers of unctuous smoked pork belly. The eggs were perfectly poached and runny, the Hollandaise sauce rich but not cloying and, impressively, I believe their fat, squidgy English muffin was home made. Partnered with a Kona Longboard and I was very satisfied!

Mmmm, Kona.

Mr G&J went for the brunch burger (beef patty, smoked pork belly and a fried egg), which gave me serious food envy. The burger was stacked high and according to him each element was perfectly cooked, even if it was possibly one of the messiest burgers ever to eat. We spilt a mac and cheese, which was excellent; creamy but not sloppy, excellent crunchy breadcrumbs on the top and fantastically flavorsome, almost smoky.

Mac and cheese with brunch, yes please!

Over all, fabulous. Slightly pricey, coming in at £50, but that was the four beers between us, so hey ho. All in all, it was delicious and the service was fast. Go and try Hotbox for yourselves!
